HOW TO BE AN OUTSTANDING MANAGER

A new approach to internal management training

A structured, comprehensive and accredited coaching programme to help managers improve employee motivation, engagement and productivity

Is 2012 likely to be a tough year for your staff?

As a manager are you expected to get more done with less resources?

Are you expected to implement changes which are threatening the stability and motivation of your team?

Keeping people “on-side”, inspiring others to give of their best, even through tough times, is not easy….

And ineffective or worse, incompetent management can cost an organisation thousands in lost productivity, lost sales and the myriad of issues which result from de-motivated employees.

Businesses need managers who can build teams of “do-ers” instead of “moaners”: managers who can engender enthusiasm and problem solving instead of apathy and indifference. Managers with these skills can make a dramatic difference to the bottom line of any organisation. And that’s where I’d like to help.

This is not your typical management training programme.

This programme is about supporting managers over time, so they become more confident, more effective and more comfortable meeting even the toughest people challenges.

Most management training courses are run over a number of consecutive days. This programme is very different.

  • Includes 5 days of highly practical training – at least one month apart – but you choose when you want them to run over a 12 month period.
  • A mix of learning and coaching, this programme covers the major challenges any manager faces in terms of managing the people side of their role. You will learn dozens of simple to implement, but proven and practical techniques to help you manage issues like conflict, change, performance and motivation in your people. You’ll learn how to better inspire, motivate and influence not only your team, but all other key stakeholders around you, so you make a better impact, get more done and achieve better results.
  • Gives each manager on the programme access to an innovative online coaching platform, which is completely private (far better than e-mail), where they receive ongoing, personalised support and coaching from the coach over a 12 month period.
  • Every manager also has private access to our comprehensive, online management library which gives instant answers to over 130 people management topics, from any computer – even your smart phone! A way of accessing support exactly when you need it – 24/7.
  • Individual goal setting and implementation is encouraged. This programme stretches managers to set goals and take actions which will improve working relationships, performance and productivity in their teams.
  • The programme is accredited by ITOL so all managers receive recognition for the learning and implementation.

This programme is accredited but it is NOT about writing essays or learning masses of theory.

This is about coaching managers to take practical actions to deliver tangible results in the engagement, performance and productivity of their teams.

This programme is NOT about adding to managers’ already long “to-do” lists either.

What it
does do is show how, by simply making some small tweaks to the way you do things already, you can get better results.
You’ll learn some basic, but really powerful insights into human psychology which will help you influence, inspire and motivate those around you more effectively and more consistently. You’ll have the know-how, the resources and the tools and techniques to consistently and successfully build, develop and maintain great working relationships at
all levels; even how to turn around the most de-motivated of employees or teams.

Testimonials and a guarantee.

Here’s just a sample of testimonials from attendees at our previous programmes:

[pullquote]I have been a training and development professional in the public and private sector for over 23 years; I now run my own training consultancy. I attended the How to be an Outstanding Manager workshops in order to update my own Continuous Professional Development for the Management training sector. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I didn’t expect to be ‘blown away’! Shona was outstanding; she engaged wonderfully with the group by using realistic scenarios which enabled understanding and learning to take place. She is clearly an expert in her field and came across as credible and professional. She introduced simple effective tools which has for me produced extremely effective results with some groups I am currently working with. I would strongly recommend attendance to this little gem of a programme. Thank you Shona.

[pullquote]“I really enjoyed the course – it was interesting and fun. Shona gave lots of useful, practical advice which can be put to immediate use. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who has any line management responsibility – and Shona is a truly inspirational trainer; professional and enthusiastic.”

[pullquote]Shona, I just wanted to let you know I am reporting to a new boss, and setting up a new team – and I’m  using your advice.

Yesterday I had a preliminary get-together with the 2 people already confirmed and afterwards I realised that I had been telling them “this is how we do it here”, exactly as you said. And the interviews we held were approached according to your advice too – defining what skills and attitudes we are looking for and asking the right questions to assess them. You’ve given me the confidence to follow my instincts in managing people, resulting in increased job satisfaction for both me and my team as well as a more effective contribution to the business!

[pullquote]This programme seemed like a breath of fresh air and based on a common sense approach that I have been totally able to relate to.
